- to the Japanese version -

Young members of the Okamoto families wish to participate in the Cultural Exchange Programs as individual Okamotos because they are from so many schools in so many locations. We agreed to test it out because there are others like them.

Here is how you can also participate
without going through schools

  • While the students participating through their schools such as the Ashikaga High School of Japan and the the Municipal General Education Establishment Gimnasia of Russia are required to complete their personal self-introduction using the uniform format set by OIARI and TWB,  we decided to experiment with another participation mode, i.e., a more flexible mode through families instead of schools, because this will enable those who cannot, for a variety of reasons, participate through their schools.
  • To introduce yourself, take your own pictures, use old family pictures, post your school papers to show what you are interested in or concerned about.  Show how you live your everyday life in your country. Combine them with your narratives so your new friends can really feel what life is like where you live. If you need advice and suggestions, email Mr. Okamoto at OIARI.

  • It is recommended that those who participate through families also introduce themselves in their own personal ways, as is being done by the Okamoto family members here.  We ask them to do so before starting e-mail exchange and/or video conferencing with other participants so everybody knows whom he or she is talking to.  Direct contact without posting mutual introduction will tend to make the exchange less meaningful than otherwise.
