AFGHAN

- to the Afghan version to the Japanese version -

Hello!  How are you doing?  I am Naho Kobayashi from Japan.  I am 17 years old (girl) and 12th grade in Hakuoh University Ashikaga High School.  I am really happy to have a communication with you in this program.

I live with my father and mother in an apartment.  I have a sister but she lives separately to go to a university in Tokyo, which is Japan’s capital.

This is my piano in my room. But since I’m living in an apartment, I can’t play so much for it may disturb my neighbor! I like to play the piano and watch television in my free time.  I don’t play any sports, but I personally like to watch volleyball.  Since I was bad at playing it, I used to be a manager for a girl’s volleyball team in my school.

This is my apartment where I live. There are eight families living here. I live on the second floor so it has a nice view.

When I was living in the U. S., I went to New York as a field trip. We are in the island where the Statue of Liberty stands.

We went to a field trip to Australia last year. Not all, but some schools go to a field trip to overseas like us.

Well, I was asked to write my vision of the United States and Afghanistan, but actually, I was living in the US until September 2004.  I moved to the state of Indiana when I was in 5th grade, and stayed there for 6 full years.
I am so ashamed to write this, but I wasn’t really interested in what was going on around the world, so I don’t know much about what kind of country Afghanistan is.
I often hear that there are terrorisms and civil warfare.  My neighbor was a family from Afghanistan, but we had to move back to Japan before having much contact with them.  What I heard from them was that there are many languages within a country and the father told me that he could speak about 3 of them!!!  I am sorry if I had a wrong vision of your country, but I believe this is a good chance to learn more about each other.
I would like to be your new friend, and I’m looking forward to hearing from you!
