I
talked about the pollution of the great Amour river last time, but
upon looking into what has been going on in China's Northeastern
Region, I discovered another alarming problem which directly involves
Japan.
Japan imports large quantities of agricultural produce from China,
paticularly from the Northeastern Region including the large-scale farm
lands developed along the tributaries of the Amour in Hailongjiang and
Jilin provinces neighboring Russia. In fact, Japan's thirst for
imported farm products was the major culprit of this and therefore the
Amour river pollution.
This is almost like saying that to the extent we increase fresh produce
import from China, more people in the Russian Far East get sick as a
result. And, what makes the matter much worse is that neither the
Japanese nor those Asian native people who live in the beautiful tiga
forests in the Russian Far East know anything about this destructive
vicious circle.
I am leaving for Shanghai with Mr. Okamoto within a few days to study
the water polluton problems in China in order to see if our newly
patented IT-TEC technology can be used to help solve the problems. I
will report on the results upon return.
