 Industry Application Example 9

The case of a major cut salad packing factory's washing water treatment (Saitama and Shizuoka Prefectures):

In this case, the major issue was the quality deterioration by the oxydization of the cut ends of fresh salad greens with a normal shelf life of only up to two days. We used our ITC-treated water for washing the cut vegetgables at the last stage before retail packing, and achieved more than six days of shelf life in the normal conditions of super market stores. In addition, with respect to the disposal of the residual chemicals used during the growing period, we have achieved a conspicuous result as shown in the attched table of analysis by a responsible public laboratory.

TLSL Comments:

1) Many a restaurants have adopted this method to enable themselves to use the cut vegetables for more than a single day.

OIARI Comments:

Since there is no big market for this type of fresh vegeteables in China, there may not be a ready market. However, as shown in the attached analysis table mentioned above (ITT News #6), the near-complete removal of the residual chemicals used in farming can be applied positively in the prosess of the product export.
