Industry Application Example 2

Treatment of the water used by as well as the waste water coming from the major food processors' plants (Hokkaido and Osaka Prefecture):

The well water used by this plant where fish meat is mixed with that of animal to produce a varity of products such as fish cakes, hams, and Chinese dumplings happened to contain an excessive amount of iron oxide and other pollutants. The plant did have its own system to clense the water pumped up from the well, and used chemicals to kill off germs, prevent spoiling and achieve quality stabilization. All these efforts, however, failed to eliminate some nagging problems.
We developed and implemented a comprehensive quality improvement program based upon ITC technology, centering on the water quality improvement, the processing cost reduction, and the stabilization of the COD (chemical oxigen demand) level.
As a result, we succeeded in minimizing these problems, substancially reducing the number of active germs in the products and enhancing their taste while extending their shelf life.

TLSL Comments:

(1) Our program brought about the following benefits in addition to the improved production process and cost savings: We helped 1)prevent taste deterioration by eliminating chemical addtives, and as a result, 2)make it unnecessary to use taste additives such as glutamine. And in the end, 3) we helped the company make its products recognized in the market as distinctly different and better than those of the competitors.
(2) The extended product shelf life was greatly appreciated by the wholesellers because it significantly reduced the the loss caused by returned inventories by the retail outlets in outlying regions.
(3)This system has since then been being utilized by those who deal with such other products as dried salted fish, bean cakes, and their processed products.

OIARI Comments:

Including the example 3 below, the IT-TEC technology and knowhow can be profitably used in China not only for the export of processed foods, but also for the safety and health of the Chinese people themselves.
